Coffee is a favorite drink for many, and its consumption is not limited to a specific group. However, nearly everyone who works on a computer, especially freelancers, acknowledges their love or even addiction to one of its various types. Given that their work often requires long hours, coffee has become a daily ritual for morning focus, during work pressures, and even in moments of relaxation and leisure. In this post, I’ll discuss some of the most popular types of coffee among workers and provide a general idea of their benefits and drawbacks.
Why Coffee?
Generally speaking, the primary reason for its widespread use is that it’s passed down as a habit, either from family members or close friends. Coffee has also become part of the culture in movies and TV series, a ritual in office work, or consumed as a stimulant for effective work before it eventually becomes a habit that’s hard to break.
Espresso:
Espresso is one of the most commonly consumed drinks among designers, programmers, and anyone who works on a computer. It tops the list of harmful drinks because our Italian friends, its inventors, dislike waiting, which led them to create a steam-based coffee that is highly concentrated and has a higher risk compared to other types. However, this doesn’t detract from it being one of the most distinctive and popular types.
Nescafe:
Nescafe Black (the original) is the traditional drink for computer users. It’s less harmful than espresso, but its popularity and widespread use don’t hide its risks when consumed in large quantities.
Arabic Coffee:
Widely known in Arab society (Turkish – and bitter Arabic coffee), this type is less harmful than the previous ones. The percentage of young fans is relatively low, but we cannot deny its rituals during holidays and private and public visits. It has become an authentic Arab tradition in both sorrow and joy, and in all occasions.
Other Coffee Types:
Nescafe Black + Milk + Sugar, or what’s known as 3 in 1, is the new trendy drink, characterized by its lightness compared to the previous types. Let’s not forget iced coffee varieties (Mocha – Original, etc.), which are cold coffee drinks that may come with chocolate or other flavors. All other types are secondary and newcomers to the world of authentic coffee.
Some Benefits and Drawbacks of Coffee:
There are many articles on coffee, some in favor and some against it. In general, coffee is beneficial as it acts as a stimulant for the nerves, aids digestion, and may protect against some types of cancer. It also contains some antioxidants that are beneficial for the body. However, it has many drawbacks, mostly due to excessive consumption, including heart palpitations, mental confusion, and insomnia, and it may be a key factor in some neurological diseases.
