It’s just five simple steps that will help you successfully transition from a traditional job to freelancing. Keep in mind that these steps may vary from person to person and may suit some better than others. Of course, these steps aren’t everything; they’re just the start that will put you on the right path!!
01- Focus
When you decide to transition to freelancing, your first destination will likely be a small room in your home, where you’ll try to manage your work and projects. But working from home has several disadvantages, the foremost being the lack of focus. This is the first problem you need to avoid. So, make sure to dedicate a specific time where you’re completely isolated from those around you and only communicate for very essential matters. Stay focused on what you’re doing and don’t get distracted by those around you.
02- Communication
From your internet connection to bank accounts and electronic payment methods, all of these are extremely important to keep you connected to your external world. Don’t forget to create accounts on major social networks and ensure there are easy ways for clients to contact you. Always focus on providing alternatives.
03- Management
Sticking to deadlines is a very basic and important matter. Create a schedule for your work and deadlines for delivering projects on time, and organize your time. Of course, schedules and deadlines can be difficult to stick to precisely, but that’s okay. There’s always a margin of error in anything we do. So don’t feel guilty if things aren’t perfectly accurate and reality differs slightly from the plan. This difference itself means you’re on the right path to successful self-management.
04- Organization
Freelancing doesn’t mean working at any time without organization. There’s a big and very important part of your daily life. Set aside some time for exercise or walking “around the neighborhood, for example,” and trust me, there’s nothing better than this method to clear your mind and keep it active and alert. Don’t lock yourself in your room, interact with others, and engage in various activities. As long as you have a clear task schedule that you try to stick to as much as possible, you’re on the right track.
05- Support
Transitioning to freelancing is not a simple matter. In fact, it requires courage and adventure and often depends on the nature of the person themselves, and of course, with God’s guidance. But don’t hesitate to seek advice and support from your friends, relatives, or even your boss at work “provided they have a creative and understanding mindset, not the exploitative and deceitful type.” In the end, go back to your decision and choose your lifestyle accordingly.
These were just some simple hints, for a start that could be right and suitable.
